Deputy PM backs Belgian firms expanding investment in VN

HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Vương Đình Huệ received Mayor of the Belgian city of Ostend Johan Vande Lanotte in Hà Nội on Thursday. 

At the meeting, the Deputy PM said the Vietnamese Government is committed to building a transparent and open business climate to facilitate investment. 
He stressed Việt Nam supports Belgian investors to operate in Việt Nam, carry out market research, and invest in local green energy projects. 
Việt Nam expects European and Belgian enterprises to help accelerate the signing and ratification of the Việt Nam–EU free trade agreement for mutual benefits, he added. 
For his part, Johan Vande Lanotte, former Belgian Deputy Prime Minister, said Belgian businesses want to expand their operations in Việt Nam and highlighted his support towards the ratification and implementation of the Việt Nam–EU FTA. 
Earlier, during his visit to Belgium last September, Deputy PM Huệ met the Ostend Mayor and local companies working in clean energy and port industry to call for co-operation between Vietnamese and Belgian firms in the future. 
Ostend is strong in port activities, green power, fishing, and agriculture. The city is working with Việt Nam’s Quảng Ninh Province and Hải Phòng City in port services and the construction of environmentally friendly industrial parks. — VNS
